What is MacSIG?

The Boeing Employees Computing Society (BECS) is one of more than 100 clubs formed by and for the Boeing family and administered by Boeing Recreation.. BECS consists of several subgroups called Special Interest Groups (SIGs) such as Macintosh, Windows, Games, Retirees, Stockmarket, etc. BECS holds a general meeting once a month on the third Monday of every month. They also publish a newsletter for all members.

The MacSIG is devoted to the Macintosh family of computers and all associated software and hardware. We are the largest subgroup within BECS. All club officers are volunteers. We maintain a website on the Internet. We also publish a news flyer once a month.

Unless otherwise noted, those eligible to participate in all Recreation Programs and Services are: Boeing employees, Boeing retirees, vendors, customers, contract and government personnel assigned full time to The Boeing Company, spouses and dependents of the above.

Financial support for BECS and its SIGs is provided by annual BECS dues and funds from Boeing Recreation. Recreation also provides guidance to club officers; promotes and publicizes our programs through various channels. They also support a dedicated computer room in the KRC which offers members computers, software, slide scanning, and a computer-related book library; and provides free use of the KRC for meetings and yearly swap meets.

What happens during a meeting?

Meetings are scheduled to last two hours. Club business occupies the first first minutes. The rest of the time, a provider demonstrates their latest software or hardware. Apple is always one of our favorite presenters. Many presenters will offer one or more special discounts to our members during the meeting. Most meetings end with a raffle of goodies (software, T-shirts, mouse pads, etc.) supplied by the presenters.

How do I join?

First, you have to join our "parent" group, the Boeing Employees Computing Society (BECS). Fill out and mail the form, with $18.00 for yearly dues. Be sure to circle "Macintosh" as your area of interest. Joining BECS means you are eligible to attend meetings of the parent group as well as any of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Forms are avaliable at all the MacSIG meetings. Or, print one from the web:
