More Info

BECS has a purchased a Gretag-Macbeth Eye-One Display and is making this unit available for loan to BECS members. This device, called a colorimeter, allows you to calibrate and profile your monitor, an essential step to producing high quality images from your computer. Profiling works by flashing known colors onto the screen and building a custom filter from the colors recorded by the colorimeter so that your monitor displays colors accurately. A properly profiled monitor allows you to make predictable color changes to your image. The Eye-One will calibrate (bring your monitor up to industry standards) and profile both CRT and LCDs on Mac (OS 9.x or higher) and PC (Windows 98 or higher) platforms. You can learn more about color management by attending the Digital Imaging SIG meetings (7:00 PM in Room B on the fourth Monday of each month).

The loan period is for 3 days, and you will be required to leave a damage deposit of $100 (checks only, made payable to BECS). There will be a $2 per day late fee assessed if you exceed the loan period. Your check will be returned to you upon return of the Eye-One. See Bob Smerrat (email: windows@becs-wa.org) or Don Viele (email: info@becs-wa.org) in the computer room to arrange for the loan.
